Day 1 – Marangu
After breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred to Tarakea border and proceed onto a 3-star Lodge in Marangu for accommodation and dinner.
If you arrive early, you will spend day for relaxation in the beautiful lodge as you enjoy the Kilimanjaro region and the high altitude if you are coming from low altitude places.
You can even take a walk to the local town which is just 10 minutes walking just to stretch your legs (Lunch and Dinner included)
Day 2 – Marangu Gate (1,980m) and Mandara Hut (2,700m)
After breakfast at the Lodge, you will be requested to sign in at the Park office and make final preparations for the climb
Our guides will be available to assist with any additional information or needs as you ascend on a cleared ridge trail through the rain forest
You will spend the night Mandara Hut, which features 6-8 bunks per hut and flushable toilets behind the main dining hut (all meals included)
Day 3 – Mandara Hut (2,700m) and Horombo Hut (3,720m)
After breakfast at Mandara Hut, set out for a 6 hours hike through the rainforest region to Horombo Hut among the Moorlands
If interested, you can take a quick detour to the rim of the Maundi Crater before continuing on today’s hike
Enjoy a hot water basin for freshening up, Tea and Coffee, Dinner and a restful overnight at Horombo Hut (all meals included)
Day 4 – Horombo Hut (3,720m)
After breakfast, spend the day for acclimatization and increasing your chances at reaching the Summit from Kibo the following night
A 4-5 hours circular hike towards Mawenzi will aid in the acclimatization process (all meals included)
Day 5 – Horombo Hut (3720m) and Kibo Hut (4700m)
After breakfast at Horombo Hut, continue your ascent into the Alpine desert habitat heading to the base of Mount Kilimanjaro
This will take nearly 6 hours and will require as much energy conservation as possible for the summit attempt just before or after midnight depending on your pace
Ensure you have sufficient water packed for two days, although mineral water is available for purchase at Kibo Hut for a fee
Change into your summit attire before resting before tonight’s summit attempt (all meals included)
Day 6 – Kibo Hut (4700m), Uhuru Peak (5895m), and Horombo Hut (3720m)
Prepare for and embark on a difficult and rewarding Summit attempt by waking up around 23h30
After some tea and biscuits, ascend through rocky trail to the Hans Meyer Cave (5,150m)
The path will zigzag up to Gillman’s point (5,681m), which is located on the crater rim
This section is the most demanding and will require great physical and mental effort. Do the Kili Shuffle and walk slowly
There will be snow from Gillman’s Point to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Weather conditions will determine how long you will be able to spend taking photographs before the 3 hours descent back to Kibo Hut
After a short rest you gather all your gear you left behind for the ascent and head down to Horombo Hut for Dinner and overnight (all meals included)
Day 7 – Horombo Hut (3,720m) – Marangu Gate (1,980m)
After breakfast, continue your descent passing the Mandara hut, down to the Marangu gate
At Marangu gate you will sign out and successful climbers receive their summit certificates
Drive back to Babylon Lodge for a long overdue hot shower, dinner, and celebrations
Overnight at Babylon Lodge (all meals included)
Day 8 – Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Tarakea border for your onward journey (Breakfast included)

- It is mandatory for all travellers returning to most countries from Tanzania to be in possession of a valid Yellow Fever Certificate – (India also requires polio vaccination)
- Tourist Visa to Tanzania is available on arrival at $100 for citizens of USA and $50 for all other nationalities
- Personal travel insurance cover is recommended for all visitors to Africa
- Wire transfer is subject to a fee of $35 each and credit card payments are subject to a 3.5% service fee
- Once a booking is confirmed, an invoice will be sent, after which payment should be made immediately to secure reservations
- For payments made in cash, please note that banks in Tanzania do not accept US Dollar notes of 2005 and earlier
